Facebook Uses Densely Arranged Solar Panels to Collect Solar Energy
According to the DoubleClick service standard from Google, Facebook is currently the most popular website in the world, with more than 690 billion page views every month. According to Hitwise's survey, Facebook currently accounts for about 9.5% of Internet traffic, slightly more than Google.
Therefore, Facebook needs a large amount of storage infrastructure to accommodate its huge photo storage, of which the steady growth is that users add 1 million new photos every day. People share more than 30 billion pieces of content on Facebook every month. In addition, Facebook’s infrastructure must support more than 10,000 websites and 550,000 applications to connect to the platform using Facebook’s platform services.
As green and energy-saving data centers continue to be proposed, Facebook is also working hard to make its data centers cheaper and more efficient. To support such a huge project, Facebook spent tens of millions of dollars to build a futuristic energy-saving data center in Prineville, Oregon. The data center is the first data center built by Facebook itself.
What catches the eye is the huge LOGO of Facebook. Looking around, it is found that the Facebook data center uses densely arranged solar panels to collect solar energy. Although it is cloudy and rainy, the solar panels can still work as usual to store electrical energy for the data center.
